Neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy occurs when the nerves located outside of the brain and spinal cord (peripheral nerves) are damaged. Many patients with peripheral neuropathy experience numbness, tingling, prickling sensations (paresthesia), sensitivity to touch, muscle weakness, or burning. In most cases of neuropathy, the nerves that are located the farthest away from the brain and spinal cord malfunction first. Symptoms can then progress into the central part of the body. Pain and other symptoms often appear symmetrically. Many people with diabetic neuropathy experience this pattern.

Causes of Neuropathy:
-Physical Injury/Trauma
-Diabetes Mellitus
-Vitamin Deficiencies
-Environmental Toxins
-Alcoholism

HOW CAN REGENERATIVE MEDICINE HELP NEUROPATHY?
Regenerative Medicine can promote neurogenesis, the growth and development of new neurons (nerve cells). Regenerative medicine also helps peripheral neuropathy through angiogenesis, the process through which new blood vessels are formed.
